One "file" is actually a directory and the other is reported by 'file' as being data. Even 'strings' does not reveal anything readable in the data file. The contents of the directory is: total 16 dr-xr-xr-x 2 root isop 1024 May 5 22:36 ./ drwxrwxrwt 3 root isop 8192 Oct 5 04:39 ../ Which does not tell me much about its name or expected contents.
