high sys cpu usage while copying a file

Hi All,

I have a problem with a RHEL 5.2 Server and I don´t know which can be the
problem.

when I copy a 2GB size file the system do the task very slow. If I run
mpstat to see the cpu usage I see that there is a lot of % of sys and not to
much of %iowait. I thought that the iowait was greater than the sys.

This %sys is the time that spent the cpu on running kernel code, so I don´t
know what is happening, How can I know what is the kernel doing while I´m
copying the file?

any idea?

Thanks in advance
