It depends on the server load profile. You have to perform analysis of the current system to understand exactly how those resources are being stressed. Start with the big three - CPU, memory utilization, and disk IO. That will lead you to be able to guess how much of an improvement you will see by improving any or all of those. -----Original Message----- From: redhat-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx [mailto:redhat-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Asim Zuberi Sent: Monday, February 01, 2010 3:51 PM To: redhat-list@xxxxxxxxxx Subject: Sizing DL-380 / DL-580 systems? Hello All - Sorry for posting an out-of-line request to this mailing list, but I am thinking on this elite list someone as already figured it out. Thought to ask, anyway. How can a system DL-380 G6 or DL-580 G6 be sized in terms of CPUs and memory requirements? For example, if a current system with 2 dual core CPUs with 8GB RAM is operating at 80% of system resources how can calculations be put in place to ascertain the number of CPUs and memory required to reduce the system resources up to 40%. thanks in advance, --Asim; -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:redhat-list-request@xxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:redhat-list-request@xxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
