How to fix NTFS on Linux

Hi all:

I encountered a serious problem. I don't have any Windows box around and I
don't have a Windows install disk. But I have to read files from a USB hard
drive with NTFS of my friend. And when I mount it, it says that I need to
use Windows to fix the file system.

Is there a way that I can fix NTFS on Linux?

Best wishes to you all
