Hi,

1. You really don't have to include su as a sudo command as its accessible
for all users (/bin/su).
2. For running a command with sudo privilege you've got to change
/etc/sudoers file. Hope you have done that.
3. Check /var/log/secure, /var/log/message for the reason you getting error
message.
