kswapd - high cpu usage (specifically under high I/O)

I think I may have found the problem.

 

There is a known issue with the update version we're running:

 

2.4.21-20.ELsmp

Obviously this is a 24/7 operational production server and has not been
updated in a long time due to cost of down time.

 

Looks like we'll be updating soon...

 

(seriously though, THIS is the year of the linux desktop....not like the
last 8 times I said it)
