Your filesystem suggestions - video/dvd archive for video editing

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi,

I'm planing a storage (iscsi, 16 SATA disks, raid 6) for some film/dvd
projects, to archive the clips and final dvd images. The "backup" is the
original video tapes and dvd.

The server is a RH EL 5.2 system, all devices on gigabit lan.

We calculated about 10 TB for the first setup.

For the "novice" users the storage serves the shares via smb; for the
"pro" useres I'd like to use ftp.

My questions concerns the size and the type of the filesystem:

The most simple setup would be ext3, one big filesystem.

The pro is the simple setup and logic management; the contra is e.g. a
long filesystemcheck after a crash.

There would not be mutch concurrent connections or users.

Any thoughts and/or suggestions?

Best regards
