Thank you Sakthi, I was able to install the os after rebuilding the RAID. But now I am having problem with lvm. It does not allow me to increase the size to more than 772Gb. I need to make a partition of 4.5 TB. I get this error, when I try to extend the size of if I try to create a big LV with lvcreate, "Device mapper: reload ioctl failed: invalid argument" Failed to suspend lv_Vol_name" I am getting these messages in the log/messages 19 11:44:04 jwyse-pc kernel: device-mapper: ioctl: error adding target to table May 19 11:44:23 jwyse-pc kernel: device-mapper: table: device 104:5 too small for target May 19 11:44:23 jwyse-pc kernel: device-mapper: table: 253:6: linear: dm-linear: Device lookup failed May 19 11:44:23 jwyse-pc kernel: device-mapper: ioctl: error adding target to table -J -----Original Message----- From: redhat-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx [mailto:redhat-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Sakthivel Sent: Monday, May 19, 2008 11:43 AM To: General Red Hat Linux discussion list Subject: Re: Paritionning Error While Installing REL5 Hi , For GPT type hard disk we should use "parted" command to create/view the partitions.Other wise your Linux kernel should have GPT support.(GPT is a new technology for creating big file system like 4TB,5TB,etc.. , it's used instated of MBR) Sakthi. When I do the partitioning I get this error message, "You boot partition is on a disk using GPT partitioning scheme but this machine can not boot using GPT. This can happen if there is not enough space on you hard drive. The error must be corrected before you try to install Redhat Enterprise server. " Has any one experienced this problem? Any idea for the solution.
