Hi, Thanks Clark, I hope that works but whenever I try to give this command with "z" then this error comes. for instance tar xvfzP /dev/st0 /usr2 /usr3 ( It DONT works) tar xvPf /dev/st0 /usr2 /usr3 ( It works) but i need to work with "z" Anyother solution. I am facing a problem, when i give following command :- tar xvfzP filename.tgz /usr2 /usr3 then after abt 30 seconds server hangs and the following error displays : NMI received, Dazed and still trying,there must be some hardware fault with the RAM chips.
