Does anybody have experience connecting old Netapp disk shelves to a Fibre channel HBA on a linux system. i get /dev/sdc (block device) as well as /dev/sg2 (char device) -----------------from dmesg ---------------------------------------- Vendor: NETAPP Model: X272_HJURE073F10 Rev: NA14 Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 03 sdc : unsupported sector size 520. SCSI device sdc: 0 512-byte hdwr sectors (0 MB) sdc: Write Protect is off sdc: Mode Sense: db 00 10 08 SCSI device sdc: drive cache: write through w/ FUA sd 2:0:0:0: Attached scsi disk sdc sd 2:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg2 type 0 -----------------from dmesg ---------------------------------------- The problem i encounter is that the disks report a 520 byte sector size. "sg_format --format --size=512 /dev/sdc" should fix this, (or should the device be /dev/sg2) Has anyone done this? Can sg_format --format --size=520 /dev/sdc make the disk availble for Netapp again? Has anyone tested this?
