Hi list, An ntp Server located in PST Time zone is contacted by an RHEL4 Server (located in IST time zone) for syncing time. At ntp server : #date Mon Feb 26 03:14:47 PST 2007 RHEL4 Server contacting the above ntp server for time is in IST time zone. #rdate: [ntp server dot com] Mon Feb 26 11:15:08 2007 It seems the "rdate" or "ntpdate" command giving the GMT time. My questions are (1) is it necessary to do some local translation of time (different time zone) for ntp to work for my RHEL4 system? (2) or, was the ntp server not understanding the IST time zone which is 5 hours 30 minutes ahead of GMT? I set a TZ variable with value IST. Thankyou for your time TIA Jose -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:redhat-list-request@xxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
