Hmm.. default kernel-smp. Computer on my workplace with single processor and it can't boot with kernel-smp (kenrel panic) in RHEL 4 AS. May be I can add some options in grub to boot it with this kernel? Or next version of kernel fixes this trouble.

You might try adding "nosmp" or "maxcpus=1" to your kernel line in grub.
