Hello, When you boot in restore mode, try a fdsik /dev/hda. If fdisk succeed in accessing to the disk, then try a p to print partitions table. q to quit fdisk, mount the / on /mnt/sysimage, the the /boot on /mnt/sysimage/boot, etc. Then, with a chroot /mnt/sysimage, you'll be in your file system. If hda is not found by fdisk, verify the connections to power and motherboard (unplug - plug again). And check in the bios if your disk is detected. (you can do that 1st). Then try to re-run grub-install in the chrooted environment. ________________________________ Pierre-Stéphane BATON DI - OI/IT Consultant Trasys-OSI Support informatique Unix/Linux E01-H14-L44 - Tel :+32 (0)71 442797 Alcatel Alenia Space ETCA (DI/SYS) Rue Chapelle BEAUSSART, 101 B-6032 Mont-sur-Marchienne "Poluri, Ramachandra Rao" <rp230050@xxxxxxx> Envoyé par : redhat-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx 08/09/2006 09:56 Veuillez répondre à General Red Hat Linux discussion list <redhat-list@xxxxxxxxxx> A "General Red Hat Linux discussion list" <redhat-list@xxxxxxxxxx> cc Objet grub-install command Gurus, I tired to install grub using grub-install command.. at my grub prompt.. grub-install /dev/hda1....where /dev/hda1 is for my /boot partition.
