Try this 2c tip: http://linuxgazette.berlios.de/issue85/lg_tips.html#tips/4 It's not distribution specific, and you can get a lot fancier than just disabling the keys. You could probably even use it to grab the media keys on a windows KB, but I haven't tried that. (yet.)
