Andrew, my former employer had clusters of IBM and HP machines all NFS
cross-mounted, and we found that monthly reboots of these were really
needed. After maybe 6 weeks things got really strange.
We later added a single Debian linux machine, pretty much the same NFS
mounts, and I've noted it running a year without needing reboots.
My current environment is a small 40-node Beowulf cluster and several
other machines: Reboots are pretty much unheard of. RH EL4AS.
