If you do need just the information about hardware, without the pretty printing or displaying it via webserver, etc. than you can find a lot of information about hardware in the (pseudo-) files in /proc filesystem - processor information in /etc/cpuinfo, physical and virtual memory size and usage in /proc/meminfo, etc. Alexey Fadyushin.
