Until you get the typo fixed ( the permanent fix ) you can try 
adding:

PEERDNS=no

to your /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth? ( replace the ? 
for the appropriate interface ).

This and other options are described in the file:

/usr/share/doc/initscripts-<your version>/sysconfig.txt
