hi,

I installed the mysqld on a rhel 4 and i want to login to the database
to change some settings but I cant. does anyone know the default root or
mysql login to connect to the mysql database to change some settings?

We are using rpm from mysql, but it may not work for you, but temporally, I used the following steps before rebuilding the grant table:
1. start mysql:
mysqld_safe --skip-grant-tables --old-passwords &
2. access server:
mysql -u root

thanks in advance.
