I think it totally depend on the applition you want to run on the GRID. One application might be better for condor while other might fit well in Sun Grid Engine. I have not tested it though, but IBM's Globus Toolkit can also be used for Grid Applications.

We're using condor (http://www.cs.wisc.edu/condor/), although it's in
early stages yet.  It will be our gridish type platform of choice once I
get my new servers running.  When I went through the evaluation many
months ago, condor fit our needs better than SGE, and "felt" better.
