sendmail losing e-mails

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello all,

I have configured sendmail on my home Dell 370 (running RHEL v4) to send
e-mails to my external e-mail address via my ISP. 1 out of every 10 e-mails
usually gets lost (i.e. is not delivered to my e-mail account). The ones
that are received are received perfectly, with all header info rewritten as
appropriate.

The /var/log/maillog does not shed any light as all e-mails show a status of
queued for delivery. Below is a log extract where the 7:15:02 e-mail was
not received but the 7:23:36 e-mail was received. Same output as far as I
can tell.

Also, sometimes an e-mail takes a long time to get delivered and will be
received after an e-mail that had been sent at a later date.

Can anybody guide me as to where I need to look? Is this my system doing
this or could it be my ISP holding up these messages for fear they are spam
(which they are not)?

Would appreciate any help,
Michael
