The problem is a LOT easier if you have a single path to your storage like you're proposing. I'd recommend the Qlogic HBAs - they work just fine. Pop the card in, add a few entries into modules.conf, and you're done. The disks come up as /dev/sda, /dev/sdb, etc. HP has a platform kit with the fibre utilities for the HBAs and you can use those for the modules.conf configuration. Here's the link to the single-port HBA that HP sells: http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/storageworks/fca2214/index.html Click on the software link and you'll find HP's version of the driver and utilities rpms. We currently run with the stock Red Hat-supplied drivers, not the HP variants. I don't have any Linux systems talking to an MSA1000 but they're talking to our EVAs without any issues. If my memory serves me correctly, Oracle support is pretty good and I'd be surprised if RHEL 4 wasn't supported. All of Oracle's internal systems are actually running Linux. We've got 10g on RHEL 4 here on a test server.
