You may want to check out the RedHat Bugzilla database, in particular my favorite bug: <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=114690> It sometimes works, and sometimes doesn't. Lately I had a RH ES 4.0 that became unbootable because the software-mirrored /boot partition became somehow corrupted.
