Does anybody know why I am receiving this error when I
attach a 250GB Western Digital external USB
drive to an RHAS 2.1 machine:

fdisk /dev/sda

usb-uhci.c: interrupt, status 3, frame# 183
sda:READ CAPACITY failed.
sda: status = 1, message = 00, host =0, driver =08
Current sd00:00: sense key not ready
Additional sense indicates Medium no present
sda: block size assumed to be 512 bytes, disk size 1GB.
unable to read partition table.

The drive is recognized in /proc/bus/usb and so forth.
It's a 2.4.9-e.57 kernel.

regards,
Geoff.
