xrdb: X server resource database utility

I am running Redhat Enterprise ES i386 4.0 on one 32bit machine, and two
64bit machines. There appears to be problems w/ xrdb which didn't appear
in earlier releases. I now receive the following message when trying to run xrdb
after rsh'ing into a remote machine.

xrdb: Connection Refused
xrdb: "Can't open display ____:0.0"

The machines are trusted to each other, and it doesn't matter if I run xhost + on the machine
I am trying to display on. Help!
