Having administered Unix, Linux and Microsoft servers and networks I have come to the following conclusions:- 1. Any Microsoft network that is not protected by a Linux or Pix firewall is a waste of time. 2. Microsoft servers are slower and less reliable that *nix units. 3. Microsoft are incapable of producing a secure firewall eg. Proxy Server! 4. Any advantage that Microsoft servers had in terms of acl's have now dissapeared with the advent of SELinux. 5. The only decent Microsoft server is their exchange server, which is rather nice. 6. Microsoft, with it's less than ethical business plan, is a threat to Governments, business, and ordinary users world-wide. 7. Who, in their right mind, would run a server that runs it's GUI in kernel space, rather than user space? And furthermore, you can't disable it. 8. Why not grow a backbone, and some ethics, and use open source software that is ethical, efficient, profitable and promotes innovation? 9. Open source software, such as Linux reduces barriers to entry of new companies. 10. Most MCSE's I have known, except those who have cross-certified in Unix, CISCO, Linux, are generally idiots. They haven't got a clue about how to run a network properly and securely. And they have virtually no trouble-shooting skills.
