Silent PC: Via C3 866MHz on a Shuttle MV25N mobo, 512MB. Trying to install RHEL4, from CDROM. Boot from RHEL4-i386-WS-disc1.iso I try <ENTER>, linux text, linux rescue, all manner of different options -- same result. It starts loading up the installer kernel (vmlinuz..... initrd.img.....) and then it reboots. Repeats ad nauseum. Seems exactly like a Fedora Core 2 problem from last year: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=120685 A workaround was developed in that bugzilla. Namely, a boot.iso with a kernel-2.6.6-1.383.i586.rpm that works on the C3. I tried booting from that disk, and it gets rolling, but shortly asks to swap in the FC2 Install CD, and won't take RHEL4 for an answer. So, is RHEL4 just a non-option, for the C3 cpu? This box has been running RH8, 24x7 for a couple years, and that still works, but I'd like to upgrade it to RHEL, for the easy updating. Any thoughts, opinions, or useful info?
