LVM over Network ?

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello,
I have a small beowulf cluster for parallel processing (with MPI / MPICH)
consist of eight Dell workstation on a LAN. Each workstation has 40 GB hard
drive, and only small part of it is used for the OS installation.

I am trying to find an optimized way to use the excess space on the those
harddrives (about 30 GB x 8 = 240 GB) that are scattered over 8 different
workstation on a LAN.

I've read a bit about LVM, never actually used it before, that it's good for
many disks configuration. So I am wondering if there is such thing as LVM
over network ? If not, what is my other option ?

What I want basically, if I could just 'collect' those 210 GB excess space so
that I could use it for eg. /home, or something, that would be great.

Thanks for any thoughts or info.
