I did a up2date command to look for mysql-server rpm
in RHN but it is not there. see below. I had just
subscribe the taroon list

[root@RH root]# up2date --showall | grep mysql
libdbi-dbd-mysql-0.6.5-5.i386
mod_auth_mysql-20030510-1.ent.i386
mysql-3.23.58-2.3.i386
mysql-bench-3.23.58-2.3.i386
mysql-devel-3.23.58-2.3.i386
php-mysql-4.3.2-19.ent.i386

Hi..I did try to up2date to download both package

that

you mention 1) mysql-server

2)mysql-server-3.23.58-2.3

but not found in RHN, see below

Are you subscribed to the Extras channel as noted
below? It looks like not....

Have you logged into the RHN via the web and checked
the channel I've mentioned?

FWIW, RHN is currently "experiencing technical
difficulties".

[root@RH root]# uname -a

Hi.. I have problem installing MySQL server in my
RedHat Enterprises 3.0 box. It was not installed

with

MySQL

I used this command RH#up2date -d -i mysql and it
download the mysql-3.23.58-2.3 from RHN

But when I typed mysql -usa ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server
through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

it means my sa password is wrong then what is

default

password then ?

Couple of things....

1. The taroon list is the best place for RHELv3
queries.

2. From RHN you want the mysql-server-3.23.58-2.3

from the Red Hat

Enterprise Linux WS (v. 3 for x86) Extras channel.
