I followed the instructions on
https://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/RHEL-3-Manual/sysadmin- guide/s1-custom-kernel-modularized.html
to build a new kernel. I need to add netatalk (Appletalk) connections to my kernel.
The procedure produces
initrd-2.4.21-27.0.2.ELAppleTalk-1.img System.map-2.4.21-27.0.2.ELAppleTalk-1 vmlinuz-2.4.21-27.0.2.ELAppleTalk-1,
put modules in /lib/modules/2.4.21-27.0.2.ELAppleTalk-1
and modified /boot/grub/grub.conf
It does not produce a corresponding config file in /boot or a corresponding vmlinux file.
/boot/vmlinuz points to vmlinuz-2.4.21-27.0.2.ELAppleTalk-1 /boot/System.map points to System.map-2.4.21-27.0.2.EL
The new kernel does not boot.
What have I missed?
