glibc-devel on amd64

Hello,

we recently installed our first Opteron with RHEL WS 3 U3. We are trying to get the Intel compilers working but they seem to fail trying to find certain 32-bit libraries. The first one that it fails on is /usr/lib/crt1.o. Additionally, 'gcc -m32' compiles fail.

I have tried to find some info on this on the web and have run across some posts about installing glibc-devel for i386 to make this work.

It is not clear to me how to make this work. The 'rpm -q' command tells me I have glibc-devel.2.3.2-95.27 installed. This is the x86_64 version.

'up2date -dui glibc-devel.2.3.2-95.27.i386' tells me "All packages are currently up to date".

Can anyone tell me how to get the 32-bit versions of the libraries installed?

TIA.
