morning ed.. so.. When i turn the vanilla box on, I will have had to configure the motherboard to be at a certain IP/Port address via the motherboard BIOS, correct? Is there a way to configure the motherboard to only receive install/boot/startup information from a given IP/IP address range? You stated that the DHCP table on the master server has to have the client IP. I'm trying to get a better feel for the direction/flow of information during this process. thanks -bruce -----Original Message----- From: redhat-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx [mailto:redhat-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Ed Wilts Sent: Monday, November 15, 2004 4:42 AM To: bedouglas@xxxxxxxxxxxxx; General Red Hat Linux discussion list Subject: Re: booting up/installing linux... This is done in the DHCP server - it's obviously not an IP check since IP isn't up yet, but it's done via MAC address. If the MAC address isn't in your DHCP tables, not much will happen with a PXE boot. -- Ed Wilts, RHCE Mounds View, MN, USA mailto:ewilts@xxxxxxxxxx Member #1, Red Hat Community Ambassador Program -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:redhat-list-request@xxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:redhat-list-request@xxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
