Did you install the mysql-devel package? If so, compile up a new
version of php with --with-mysql=<path>
--with-mysql-lib=<path_to_libmysql>
--with-mysql-includes=<path_to_mysql.h>

Subject: Re: MySQL php error

I actually tried to install this package and got dependency errors

[root@sandbox root]# rpm -i php-mysql-4.3.2-18.ent.i386.rpm
warning: php-mysql-4.3.2-18.ent.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key
ID 897da07a
error: Failed dependencies:
        libmysqlclient.so.10 is needed by php-mysql-4.3.2-18.ent
    Suggested resolutions:
        mysql-3.23.58-1.i386.rpm
[root@sandbox root]#

This is proboably because I upgraded to mysql-4.3.2
