Yes, that's why the 2 'scroll' directions are buttons 4 & 5.

You should also check that the device line points to the usb device not the 
ps/2 device.

Here is what it may look like:

Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier  "Mouse0"
        Driver      "mouse"
        Option      "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
        Option      "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
        Option      "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
        Option      "Emulate3Buttons" "no"
EndSection

Not:
 Option    "Device" "/dev/psaux"
