I updated a Dell station yesterday from RedHat 9.0 to Fedora 2. I did the update with a clean install.

However, when I log out, the monitor goes black and a floating box with
the following message appears:

Monitor is working out of scan range 24.5 KHz to 54 Hz.

A quick google search leads to this Fedora Core 2 bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=123424

I upgraded the kernel to 2.6.8.1.521, but that did not solve the problem.

I then modified /etc/X11/xorg.conf, commenting out "Load dri." I then
modified /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf and enabled "AlwaysRestartServer=true"

The screen comes up correctly with a logout. You can see the server
doing a restart.
