See if you can run the following command: mii-tool That should tell you what speed your NIC card is auto-negotiating at. You can also change the port speed and duplex settings using the mii-tool command as well. The command that you run would also need to be put in /etc/rc.local in order to make it stick after a reboot. When I was using my NIC conected to a HUB and all of a sudden i got this messages at the /var/log/messages, all the peers connected are flooded with ICMP. I solve this replace the HUB by another. Iwas using a 3COM NIC. In teory, this problem could be due the HUB versus Switch characteristics where the HUB don't can hear and transmit at the same time. *** Cleber P. de Souza -----Mensagem original----- De: redhat-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx [mailto:redhat-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx] Em nome de Margaret Doll Enviada em: sexta-feira, 3 de setembro de 2004 10:18 Para: Redhat-list@xxxxxxxxxx Assunto: Fwd: eth0: Transmit error from http://www.scyld.com/vortex.html 0x82 Out of window collision. This typically occurs when some other Ethernet host is incorrectly set to full duplex on a half duplex network. We are getting hit by another computer on our network. The error messages are nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn ( on our local subnet) sent an invalid ICMP type 11, code 0 error to a broadcast: ...: 551Time(s) Now we have to hunt down the "stray" computer.
