Andrew, I can't speak for WS3, but we are using ES3 and it comes with vsftpd (albeit an older version; 1.2.1). We are also using NIS and I haven't seen any dependencies on kerberos. -Steve -----Original Message----- From: redhat-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx [mailto:redhat-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Cannon, Andrew Sent: Friday, August 20, 2004 8:20 AM To: Redhat (E-mail) Subject: PAM errors using vsftpd Hi All, First of all, the system specs: RHELWS v3 U2 on AMD64. Mixed *nix environment with password and disk mapping done using NIS (not NIS+) from a SunOS4.2 box. I have tried to use the ftp program supplied with WS3, but it requires Kerberos authorisation, and we do not use Kerberos... I downloaded and compiled vsftpd 2.0.1 but that just didn't want to play at all! So I downloaded version 1.2.2 and unpacked it. I've followed all the instructions, but I cannot start it standalone and when I configure it using xinetd I get PAM authorisation errors in the messages log. Specifically: Aug 20 11:18:37 lin03 vsftpd: PAM unable to dlopen(/lib/security/pam_listfile.so) Aug 20 11:18:37 lin03 vsftpd: PAM [dlerror: /lib/security/pam_listfile.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory] Aug 20 11:18:37 lin03 vsftpd: PAM adding faulty module: /lib/security/pam_listfile.so Now, I don't know whether this is going to make any difference, but there are libraries in /lib and also /lib64. Is PAM using the right ones? How can I tell? Any help would be appreciated. Andy Andrew Cannon, Nuclear Technology (A2), NNC Ltd, Booths Hall, Knutsford, Cheshire, WA16 8QZ.
