RE: Network error in vmware

You might look at the URL listed below, I ran into the same issue and this fixed the link issue.  I didn't try running dhclient manually, so I'm not sure if this solution is exactly the same as what you are experiencing.

Basically add the following to /etc/sysconfig/ifcfg-eth0

check_link_down () {
    return 1;
}

Sounds like a VMware issue...not a RedHat Linux issue.

You don't mention what version of VMware you are running.  But, in any
event, you will probably get more value by asking on the
vmware.for-windowsnt.configuration news group.
