dsl router and vmware ...

hello all,

i noticed that when i enable VMware
on my laptop, i tend to lose networking
connections intermittently. For example,
a. while downloading a file the process hangs,
b. when ssh'ing into a linux vmware session, the
connection hangs
c. netstat -rn .... gets stuck, unable to display route
d. sometimes, it is ok ...

I tried to DISABLE the VMWare driver, and the
intermittent networking connection drops seem
to be eliminated.

environment: laptop DHCP'ing into a linksys DSL
router in my home office; there are 2-3 other nodes
connected to this router and do not experience the
intermittent network drops.

when i check the network configuration in the
laptop (both VMWARE and the DHCP ip configuration)
I noticed the following:

VMWare
192.168.121.1
255.255.255.0

192.168.186.1
255.255.255.0

DHCP configuration:
192.168.1.102
255.255.255.0

is it possible that it is getting confused bec
the subnet mask ? i am not sure how to resolve
this ...

- a.
