In rely to Alejandro,

In practice I have seen and used the second option (Internet->Router->Firewall->LAN) with Proxy servers in the DMZ. This application has worked for me in home networks up 1000 users of course the home network uses very inexpensive equipment.

The LBB and the Linux box perform such similar tasks that I really see no
huge benefits in having both. For the few times when I've changed my mind
and switched a network from Linux to LBB or from LBB to Linux, it's been a
replacement not an addition. I found the most benefit by selling the LBB
being removed, or recycling the Linux box to another purpose.

You *can* use them both and there's nothing wrong with that. The idea just
doesn't appeal to me so I haven't done it.

Cheers,
