Help , i want to stop cron and restart coz i jus noticed crond is not running properly , when i kill the process and restart twice this is the error that i get or when i try and restart it , wat does it mean

[root@blahblah/root]# /usr/sbin/crond restart
/usr/sbin/crond: can't lock /var/run/crond.pid, otherpid may be 3778: Resource temporarily unavailable

help!!!!!

my guess is that cron was already running, and you tried to initiate another crond process.
instead of directly running the crond script, try using /sbin/service crond restart
maybe this will work?
