Problems with routing/gateway

I sure hope someone can help me with this. I am running RedHat Linux 2.4.18 (kernel). This box is configured as my router of a small home network that I share my DSL through.

I use Iptables and this box has routed successfully for approximately 9 months to a year. Suddenly without any changes whatsoever the box stopped routing to the inside addresses. From the linux box I can go anywhere but from inside the network the packages move so slowly they are essentially not running.

Since I changed no software or hardware I assumed I'd lost a nic card, a cable or modem/router. So I changed all the hardware to known good. Still no joy. I moved over and used ICS on my Windows box and was succefully able to use the linux box as a network client so I know all the hardware is good.

So I'm stuck. I rebuilt a new updated kernel, 2.4.20-31.9 and still no joy. Any suggestions or help?
Thank you,
Jo
