Section "Screen"
    Identifier "Screen0"
    Device "Videocard0"
    Monitor "Monitor0"
    DefaultDepth 24
    SubSection "Display"
        Depth 24
        Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
    EndSubSection
    SubSection "Display"
        Depth 16
        Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
    EndSubSection
EndSection

I'm sure this is not the RIGHT way to do it, but simply removing the other resolutions from above should work. It's how I've always done it in the past.

The right way, by simply choosing it within X, has yet to work for me.

Ed.
