Title: RE: new to list / network eth0 issue
Did you add a route to the network?  your Routing table needs to know where to go.

route add -net 0.0.0.0 gw GATEWAYIP netmask 255.255.255.0 INTERFACE_ALIAS (eth0)

You can add it to the /etc/rc.local to preserve on reboot.

--thanks all.

--both mii-tool and ethtool are on RHEL v. 3 - they both look
--great; i have made the change, but i still can not reach
--the server.  i think the IS team has made an error  - it
--may be the switch, but that just seems silly -

--i'm beginning to think it's either windows 200x or just
--add the 2nd card and route my way around it.

--will work on it - thanks again!

[snip]

not sure if the same applies on RHEL but in RH9,
just run 'ethtool' as root - dead simple to use.
