Help -- crond dying on LDAP-bound hosts!

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

	Hi,

I am overseeing an LDAP rollout at the office, and we ran into a
peculiar problem: RHL 9 systems, when bound to LDAP, start experincing
crond death. Each time anyone edits their crontab, the next cron polling
(at minuite boundary) causes crond to die. the following message is
logged:

Apr 12 16:27:00 loki crond[25732]: nss_ldap: reconnecting to LDAP server...
Apr 12 16:27:00 loki crond[25732]: nss_ldap: reconnected to LDAP server after 1 attempt(s)

and then crond just dies, without any notice. The problem is
also described in Bugzilla, in the somewhat unrelated bug #110563 at
http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/long_list.cgi?buglist=110563 , but
no solution is offered.

Any ideas, anyone? Besides filing a bug report -- I will do that
next.
