XFS goes crazy, eating 99% CPU

Hi all,
I just realized that in 4 nodes of my beowulf cluster, running Redhat 9, the
process xfs (x font server?), owned by user xfs, eating up 99% of CPU and
keep up there for a long time. I restarted the service, even rebooted the
machine, and xfs comes back to the top. The same XFree86-xfs version is
installed on other machines running RH 9, and they do not have that problem.
This is the latest XFree86 updates from RHN.
The machines that have this problem does not run X, it's in init 3.

Any help on solving this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
