RAID Controllers: LSI vs. Adaptec

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

I am evaluating entry-level RAID controllers for use on some RH 9 nodes. (Just for root disk mirroring)

I just wanted to get some opinions on the LSI controllers. I have only used them as onboard devices in a few motherboards here and there and was wondering how they fared under RH 9. I have been road testing Adaptec's 2120S and have already had 1 fail completely in 2 months. Also, the 2120S's are $400 with less features than LSI's at a price of $285. Not looking for advanced features like battery-powered caches or anything, just simple RAID 1 capabilities in a PCI format (preferably 64-bit 66 Mhz)

Thx for any input...
