Thank you very much. Actually, I want to move /var to the system drive (from slave to master drive, so everything will be on a single drive.) How do I boot into single user mode? Will the file system be read-only? After moving /var and removing its mount entry in "fstab" will the system reboot correctly? As you can see, I am a little nervous. This server is a production server. Boot into rescue mode from the install CD and mount as per instructed. Format the new drive as however you desire. Mount the new drive somewhere - probably under /mnt temporarily. Copy all the data in /var to the new drive. Remove the old drive and once again reboot in rescue mode as before. Edit the /etc/fstab to reflect the new mount as /var. stephen kuhn - owner ============================== illawarra computer services a kuhn media australia company http://kma.0catch.com ------------------------------------------------------------------ * This message was composed on a 100% Microsoft free computer * We expressly refuse to utilise Microsoft DRM encoded documents ------------------------------------------------------------------ One good thing about music, Well, it helps you feel no pain.
