I'd appreciate if somebody can help with this. Computer is Dell Latitude CPx H, RHEL 3, 2.4.21-9.0.1.EL kernel. It was running various releases of Red Hat since 6.2, SuSE 8.1, Fedora Core 1, FC2 test1. None of the kernels prior to EL one (above and 2.4.21-4.EL) had any trouble with the sound - thinking about it, all beta releases as far as I can remember worked well, too. redhat-config-soundcard detects sound device as ES1978 Maestro 2E but it is not able to load maestro3 module due to 'unresolved symbols in ac97 and ac97_codec'. Am I missing something obvious or perhaps it's a bug? Messages in syslog are: #################################################################### modprobe maestro3 /lib/modules/2.4.21-9.0.1.EL/kernel/drivers/sound/maestro3.o: init_module: No such device Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
