restarting bind 9 on rh9

Am I the only unluck one or just blind in my searches.?

I have installed RH9 and done all the updates, but if I were to run
/etc/rc.d/init.d/named restart
It fails to stop the service, but will start the service. It does start
the service on boot up (another thing to watch out for in the install, it
does not start the service after the initial installation. Requires you
to set it up to start on boot)

I traced the problem to the function script, I can't figure out what the
problem is.
