I've been running a small PHP/Apache2 project on a RH9 box and haven't 
seen any problems there either, so far.  I forgot to ask: "Does the 
command "httpd -l", to show the compiled modules, give the same 
results as RH9 (I'm assuming you're using it in the default, 
distributed configuration) ?

httpd -l
Compiled in modules:
  core.c
  prefork.c
  http_core.c
  mod_so.c
